Rabbi Donna Kirshbaum will be giving a talk: ” First Restore Hope: a Report from Women Wage Peace in Israel“ after Shabbat services (6:30 pm) and a pot luck dinner ( 7:30 pm, bring one dish, one desert, one drink).
Rabbi Donna Kirshbaum will be talking about the Women Wage Peace movement : Drawing together women from every possible political, economic, ethnic, religious, and geographic background and every age group – including secular women from Tel Aviv, Jewish settlers from the territories, Bedouin citizens, Russian and Ethiopian immigrants and everyone in between – this 3-year-old all-volunteer movement already claims 30,000 members in Israel and has been recognized by the Asst Secretary General of the UN as the reason for cautious optimism in the Middle East. How do they do it? What is their strategy for resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict? How does such an avowedly a-political movement succeed in influencing Israeli politics? What are some of the ramifications for Jewish communities elsewhere? Rabbi Donna Kirshbaum from Beersheva, Israel, active in Women Wage Peace since its founding, will speak about these topics and answer your questions. To register : info@gil.ch
